Celebrate Memorial Day 2008

Hey Friends,

I hope and pray each of you will celebrate this 2008 Memorial Day with us here at The Wood Blinds and Shutter Factory Online.

I shamefully admit, too many years growing up I never gave much thought to the meaning of Memorial Day. Too many of us have been stressed into thinking of only a possible day off work.

Memorial Day is and should be a great day to reflect on the men and women who have sacreficed their very lives so that we who remain maight enjoy the freedom of these United States. Please remember the NOT so few that have fallen that sooo many can have joy and safety in even these days. Please, by all means enjoy a picnic, day at the beach, with family at the Bar B Que...what ever is enjoyable to you and your loved ones. Just keep a memory for those whom God provided and gave there all for the very idea that those left behind could enjoy such freedoms.

Window Blinds Have A Price

On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy and Air Force Days. The single-day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under one department -- the Department of Defense. Each of the military leagues and orders was asked to drop sponsorship of its specific service day in order to celebrate the newly announced Armed Forces Day. ...
The theme of the first Armed Forces Day was "Teamed for Defense." It was chosen as a means of expressing the unification of all the military forces under a single department of the government. Although this was the theme for the day, there were several other purposes for holding Armed Forces Day. It was a type of "educational program for civilians," one in which there would be an increased awareness of the Armed Forces. It was designed to expand public understanding of what type of job is performed and the role of the military in civilian life. It was a day for the military to show "state-of-the-art" equipment to the civilian population they were protecting. And it was a day to honor and acknowledge the people of the Armed Forces of the United States.

We take the right to sell window blinds and shades for granted like most people who purchase window treatments.

Thanks to all the men and women who have and are and will serve in the United States Military Armed Forces. In agreement with military force or disagreement you give your time and risk your lives for the freedom we Americans too often take for granted. I would like to add a special thanks to your families as well. They miss you and endure much hardship for the sake of what you do.

Please remember our volunteers in the Military when you buy your new wood blinds, cellular shades and roman fold shades. I know I will try to recall the freedom we enjoy to be in business which is largely in part to these wonderful people.

Take out Chicken Parmesan and Window Blinds

Okay! What does Take out Chicken Parmesan have to do with your new window blinds. Well..It's like this....I have a favorite local place here in Spring,Texas that serves the most bestest (right) chicken parmesan. I always get the take out and well..you know good chicken parm can be pretty fattening...lots of oil and it used to leak on the seats of my other (favorite) a 1982 280 ZX Datsun....on the way home. Try to explain that one to the speacial friend who is lucky enough to sit in the seat next to you the next day.

It's all about the packaging. Eventually the chicken parm came with a paper plate under the actual container and another paper plate under the take out bag. Great! this stopped the leaking onto the seats and saved me future explanations as to why women should expect to get stains on brand new two hundred dollar dress slacks.

Same applies to your new blinds. PACKAGING is what I mean. Your new blinds are shipped in specially designed boxes to insure safe arrival and adequate protection, should you ever have a need to return the product, you will need that box! No one saves boxes anymore, but I can tell you these particular boxes will never be found at the local box store. Please save the boxes and save yourself a lot of hassel and expense should you ever have the need to return the item for repair or even moving. On occasion folks will ask for boxes. We'll they are not cheap upon request and have to shipped out to you and just an issue you really don't need.

You'll love your new wood blinds, cellular and or woven wood shades from Wood Blinds and Shutter Factory Online. I just know your going to love them like I love my take out Chicken Parmesan. Just remember to keep that box. Packaging is everything for quality and protection.

A Mother's Day Surprise

Want to surprise mom on Mother's Day? Sure you do! Okay, have the kids take her to dinner or lunch and spend some time. Mean while you go over to her place and measure for new blinds or shades. Now, knowing mom might not have the exact same taste as you, we make a suggestion. Try a small window first. May I suggest the kitchen window over the sink. Try a faux wood blind because they will not warp due to the humidity and or steam. If the window is high enough you might even consider premium wood, woven wood or cellular shades. Measure and order online now so that the order should arrive very close to Mother's Day. Upon arrival, go over to mom's house and install the new window treatment for her. She will Love It! If, not actually what she had in mind then you can talk with her and decide on what is more favorable before ordering for the rest of the house. Either way new window coverings can be such a surprise for Mom. Often people put off these types of changes, because of the hassel of shopping and going store to store and the installation if they are older and not so inclined. New and brighter windows can make a world of difference to many mom's who have looked at the same thing for years, but figure they are still in good shape so why spend the money.
