Window Treatments or Wives

Life can be as difficult as we make it. Are you choosing a spouse or a window treatment? Really does not matter. You want that perfect window decor, yet you don't know if it's blinds or cellular shades. Gosh the 2" window blind is the most common and favorite and so pleasing yet, cell shades are so cool and reduce the heat and cold factor.

Well, truth is it's alot like choosing a spouse. You can see something so beautiful and or handsome and think Wow! and that BLING!....all that glitter and money too! Knowing the whole time you are barking up the wrong tree.

The issue is this. Keep focused. Know what you want.Look around. Go to the stores. Yes, retail outlets are high, but you can get good ideas. Look at the Southern Living, Better Home and Garden and so many more. Do some home work and then go shopping. When shopping look at the factory specifications. Know what you need.

Wives and husbands are too often chosen on the spur of the moment. That too often relates to bad news for the choosing party. Avoid the window covering catastrophy by looking, shopping, learning.

Woven wood shades are great if your neighbor has them, but is it the style you are? Roman fold shades are wonderful but, are you that person? Take a good look.

Ladies, how many time did Mr Right turn out to be toad? Guys, Ms. Right is great when we help her to be great but, let face it....were men...she will need some help.

The bottom line. Take time. Look around and decide what is your style. Search out the details. Read articles, look at other homes. When fully comfortable in your choice then look for the wood blind or shade you desire. Roman fold, woven or cellular.

Don't be disappointed.

Have a Wonderful Day?

August Heat Wave 2008

Okay, I cannot testify for the northern most States, however summer August 2008 for the southern United States looks to be an absolute sizzler! Especially Texas! Luckily we have some regular rain to water the nature and give temporary coolness to some days, yet just enough to bring down that 101 degree to a WHAT? comfortable 96 with humidity.

Cellular Shades! Honeycomb cellular shades...........they come with an insulation rating and are proven to reduce heat and cold better than wood blinds and faux wood and vinyl blinds. View the factory specifications under cell shades on our web site and you will see the r-value for product.

Folks this energy thing ain't goin away. It started long ago and has risen steadily since. Some years we get a little break, but you know well as me. We are not seeing No break since last year. Some wages are keeping up, yet most are not. Even if the earnings increase you have to spend it on the ever increasing price of products. Even when money is not an issue. Do you really want to continue giving the dollars away to the power providers?

Get a little green. Don't go ballistic, just consider a cellular shade for the green effort as well as an actual reduction in the heat and cold penetration into your living space that will result in lesser dollars spent to cool and heat.

AND KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED!!! Somebody comes in force them to pay part of the bill. Nobody comes in ..... you just plain loose money. Crime is not the basic reason for the closed door anymore.

Blessings and stay cool.

Brown Grass, Green Blinds

Hey Folks,

Yes, I know the summer is coming really eary and the grass is turning brown in spots, Maybe it's global warming, maybe it is historical.

One thing I can tell you is that our wood blinds in Catus Green will not fade like your lawn and they don't need water that cost....well you know what water cost!

Folks, it is going to be one of those trying summers.Gasoline prices are crazy and everything else follows, but you can still change the look of the old homestead with new wood window blinds. Want a change and maybe some relief from the cost of cooling? Then you should check out the new prices of the cellular shades sometimes called honeycomb cellular shades. These shades will reduce some of that penetrating heat that bears down on your home all day. They are great for letting in light from top or bottom and still keeping the sun beast at bay.

Less, face it. We have all seen the times go up and down, yet we are in a money consuming economy today. I cannot lower gas prices for you , but I can offer a fair priced product to reduce heat and or even just to enlighten the look of the household. Wood blinds are great for changing the tone. Woven wood shades are becoming quite the trend and can be purchased with a blackout liner.

Wish, I could help with the brown spots in the yard, but water is the key and it seems we get too much or not enough.

Jesus, loves you. The yard will survive. Take care of the home and the feeling inside, let the outdoors be the outdoors.

God Bless you all and may God PLEASE Bless this Nation

Don't be a shadow of yourself

You know for years I would awake every moring walk through the house, open the blinds and think WOW! What a great day! Then I would turn and see my shawdow on the wall, thinking...MAN! I gotta loose some weight. Despite reports I did loose weight, but I also changed window coverings. Times change and so do our needs. Letting in the morning sun is great unless you have to leave for work in ten minutes and you leave the blinds open for the rest of the day to heat the home and cause the A/C to run all day.

No Fear, Cellular Shades are here. Replace the current window treament with a cellular shade....stroll through in morning use the top down option to drop that shade a couple inches to get that great morning light and leave it! The rest of the day your palace will get light to a low level, not requiring so much A/C and from the outside it will not appear so closed off, like no one home. Not to mention you can get single cell and double cellular shades which will reduce the filtered light, so like me you will not notice the extra two pounds you might need to loose.

We also have a black out shade that will reduce light even further. You know woven wood roman fold shades will do the same basic thing and are avaialble with a blackout liner.

Regardless of your window covering, I wish you all the most ABSOLUTE BESTEST FATHERS DAY !

God Bless You,

Stay Cool!

Window Blinds Have A Price

On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy and Air Force Days. The single-day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under one department -- the Department of Defense. Each of the military leagues and orders was asked to drop sponsorship of its specific service day in order to celebrate the newly announced Armed Forces Day. ...
The theme of the first Armed Forces Day was "Teamed for Defense." It was chosen as a means of expressing the unification of all the military forces under a single department of the government. Although this was the theme for the day, there were several other purposes for holding Armed Forces Day. It was a type of "educational program for civilians," one in which there would be an increased awareness of the Armed Forces. It was designed to expand public understanding of what type of job is performed and the role of the military in civilian life. It was a day for the military to show "state-of-the-art" equipment to the civilian population they were protecting. And it was a day to honor and acknowledge the people of the Armed Forces of the United States.

We take the right to sell window blinds and shades for granted like most people who purchase window treatments.

WELL....NOT THIS YEAR!

Thanks to all the men and women who have and are and will serve in the United States Military Armed Forces. In agreement with military force or disagreement you give your time and risk your lives for the freedom we Americans too often take for granted. I would like to add a special thanks to your families as well. They miss you and endure much hardship for the sake of what you do.

Please remember our volunteers in the Military when you buy your new wood blinds, cellular shades and roman fold shades. I know I will try to recall the freedom we enjoy to be in business which is largely in part to these wonderful people.

Thank You and God Bless.

A Mother's Day Surprise

Want to surprise mom on Mother's Day? Sure you do! Okay, have the kids take her to dinner or lunch and spend some time. Mean while you go over to her place and measure for new blinds or shades. Now, knowing mom might not have the exact same taste as you, we make a suggestion. Try a small window first. May I suggest the kitchen window over the sink. Try a faux wood blind because they will not warp due to the humidity and or steam. If the window is high enough you might even consider premium wood, woven wood or cellular shades. Measure and order online now so that the order should arrive very close to Mother's Day. Upon arrival, go over to mom's house and install the new window treatment for her. She will Love It! If, not actually what she had in mind then you can talk with her and decide on what is more favorable before ordering for the rest of the house. Either way new window coverings can be such a surprise for Mom. Often people put off these types of changes, because of the hassel of shopping and going store to store and the installation if they are older and not so inclined. New and brighter windows can make a world of difference to many mom's who have looked at the same thing for years, but figure they are still in good shape so why spend the money.

What ever you do, don't forget mom this year. Even just a phone call can make all the difference.

God Bless,

"April Showers Bring May Flowers"

"April Showers Bring May Flowers" ?

Maybe, but they can also lead to more water on the freeway in May when the rain continues into May. Writers have often used April to indicate the opening because of it's Latin origin "aperire" which means to open. Did you know April begins on the same day of week as July in all years and also January in leap years? Okay, we may not all be longing for those April showers this year, because we know it means the opening to higher summer cooling cost.

Have no fear! Honeycomb or cellular window shades can help you cut those higher cost by reducing the amount of heat coming through the window. Available in single cell and double cell fabrics, both styles have r- factors representing the insulating effect that can work like the insulation in your attic.

Let's face it. Heating is now more expensive because because of cold and cooling more expensive because of heat. We can't win even one season anymore. The car cost more because it saves gas and more if it waste gas. We can only begin to think, cut cost for the long run.

Cellular shades are available in many colors and have great options like easy lift to reduce cords and my favorite (top down bottom up) allowing for light and or view at two angles.

Hope your May flowers are beautiful and April will not bring too much rain.

Spring Time Remodeling

Hey folks, we got a head start on Spring this year, thanks to the early enactment of daylight savings and also Easter is in March tis year. For you history buffs, you'll be interested to know that Easter has not been in March for approximately 93 years and will not be again for a little over 200 years. Naturally we all remember the real reason for Easter....Resurrection Sunday. Jesus born a man, died for our sinds and raised on the third day.

Weather permitting the Spring time early arrival will make most of us feel like getting the yard and home in shape and ready for visitors, garden parties etc. Well, don't forget those aged or just plain out of date window treatments. White wood and faux wood blinds brighten every home on the inside and the outside. Woven and cellular shades are becoming very fashionable also, as many seek to let in the light while keeping energy cost at bay.

Honeycomb cellular shades will allow filtered light to enter the room while not letting all that summer heat come at the same time.

For the environment fiendly at heart, the woven wood shades will do the same thing and you can take pride in the use of natural grasses, reeds, jute, bamboo etc. for your home decor.

Both products are available in a blackout version or with a blackout liner if you desire to eliminate further heat from the inside spaces.

Have a GREAT Easter Sunday!

Happy Holidays!

Every year one my friends says they know Halloween is near when the stores begin advertising Christmas sales. We'll that does seem to be the schedule these days and it really can throw us into a hurried tail spin to prepare for all the Holidays at one time. While not a huge supporter of Halloween, I do believe Thanksgiving is a wonderful Hoilday and opportunity to reflect upon all that the we (especially in the United States) have to be thankful for. As Turkey Day is fast closing we naturally turn thoughts to Christmas. Christmas or Christ Mass as once termed is a wonderful time to remember our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who chose to lay down his life for the sins of the world....a sacrefice for all men so that who ever would believe in Him would have eternal life in the Kingdom of God. Though not born on the December date celebrated Jesus is the reason for the season. As a company we to take this time of year to remind all that the Christmas season is drawing near and ordering should be done in advance to allow time for construction of your custom blinds and or shades in time for delivery before the Christmas Holidays. Production and delivery can take 10 - 15 days for the custom products and of course nation wide delivery is slowed this time of year due to the increased shipping volumes. So, whatever you need...be it wood blinds, faux wood, woven shades or the ever increasing popular cellular shades......Please visit the site and order samples today that you might make an informed purchase in time for the familiy gatherings to come this years end.

A last thought about the Thanksgiving meal.....Turkey Coma....that much anticipated but dreaded feeling to encompass one after hours of the aroma and preparation prior to the maybe twenty minute process of devouring the massive meal. Beware! becareful! pace yourselves and remember the eyes are always bigger than the stomach.

Blessings to you this week. Safe passage and may all enjoy this time of celebration.

Saving Energy with Shades

Like most people today we all want to cut back on the dollars we spend for heating and cooling our homes. We don't want to be uncomfortable, but we simply can't stand the utility cost which seem to be increasing with every coming month.

Consider cellular shades! Honeycomb cellular shades will provide filtered light to enter the home and illuminate the space and at the same time keep much of the heat and or cold out. As with any shade the henderance will be that shades are either open or closed. They cannot be tilted like a wood blind to allow for partial viewing. Actually YES! in one respect they can be! Some cellular shades are available with options like top down, bottom up. This means the shade can be lowered from the top and raised from the bottom. This option allows one to let more light in and limit the view in from the outside. Also, cellular shades come with an R- Rating, just like home insulation and the more efficient modern windows of today. Other features are also available, such as cordless shades or even easy lift which limits the number of cords to one. Colors and sizes are many.

My weather man says we are lucky this year. Temperatures are lower than normal and we can all breath easier. While he maybe correct, someone forgot to tell my electric company. I urge you! Consider Honeycomb Cellular Shades when trying to cut cost and still enjoy a modern stylish home.

From Spring,Texas where the temperatures lower, but the humidity is sweltering. I wish you a wonderful August weekend.
