Blinds absolutely do not have be as expensive as most people today think. So many are used to seeing the high dollar blinds in stores and have come to believe that the price listed on those is the norm. Cheap blinds are still available today!
Yes, I know you think the word cheap means low quality. Webster’s dictionary defines the word cheap as:
- a. purchasable below the going price or the real value b. charging or obtainable at a low price <a good cheap hotel> <cheap tickets> c. depreciated in value (as by currency inflation) <cheap dollars>
- gained or done with little effort <a cheap victory> <talk is cheap>
- a. of inferior quality or worth b. contemptible because of lack of any fine, lofty, or redeeming qualities
- of money : obtainable at a low rate of interest
So yes, it is possible cheap can mean inferior quality; however, it is not a definitive term. I urge you, please consider your application when looking for blinds. Cheap blinds are very often not cheaply made or of inferior quality.
Take for instance the faux wood blind. Fake wood is the meaning -- a look alike blind. Usually made of a polymer, they are available in flame retardant form, a very good quality for public areas, hospitals, nursing homes, day cares, etc. and often required by law or insurance companies. Not to mention they are less expensive or, dare I say, "cheap blind".
Cheap blinds are very often no less than a good deal. Especially when white is the desired color. A cheap blind in white can be every much as pleasing to the eye as an expensive white blind!
Please keep in mind that sometimes even the most elegant of the premium wood blinds can be cheap in price when compared to retail outlets who sell them for many times the cost of manufacture. Even in those cases a customer should consider their need. Do you need measuring and installation? If so, then the price can be high, but a cheap blind may still be available. You may even be able to buy cheap blinds from a reputable dealer and locate a local service to measure and install them!
